Educator, biblical theologian and church leader Dr. James E. Brenneman is the 16th president to serve Goshen College.

Jim is a leader with a pastor’s heart and a scholar’s mind lived out in joyful witness. His Anabaptist, urban, multicultural perspective developed throughout a life that began in Kalona, Iowa, found him in the Cuban quarter of Tampa, Fla., until he came to study at GC and his 25-plus years spent in the urban context of Los Angeles as a Mennonite pastor with an interest in ecumenical conversations. He and his wife, Dr. Terri J. Plank Brenneman who is a clinical psychologist, have one son, Quinn.

Bill has been dean of students since 2002, following five years as associate dean for student development at Bethel College (North Newton, Kan.). Previously he was assistant director and counselor in the Tabor College (Hillsboro, Kan.) admissions department and coached men’s tennis. He served as a youth pastor at Ebenfeld Mennonite Brethren Church, Hillsboro, Kan., for three years and, from 1995 to 1999, was chair of the Southern District Mennonite Brethren Church Conference youth commission. He majored in Bible and philosophy at Tabor, graduating with honors, and earned a master’s degree in student personnel, higher education administration and counseling at Emporia State University. The dean of students oversees campus housing, activities and clubs, student discipline, campus ministries, learning resources, career services, health and wellness, counseling and orientation.

Jim became vice president for finance in 1997 after seven years as an assistant and associate professor of accounting in the business department. Prior to coming to Goshen as a professor, Jim was a practicing Certified Public Accountant (CPA), first for a large regional accounting firm in Pennsylvania and later as owner of his own CPA practice. Jim also taught high school for three years and coached several high school sports. At Goshen, Jim is responsible for the overall institutional budget and business functions of the college. He oversees the areas of human resources, accounting, physical plant/facilities, printshop, and auxiliaries such as the bookstore and dining hall services.

Lynn Jackson

Lynn became vice president for enrollment management on March 17, 2008 following 20 months as executive director of enrollment at Goshen College. Lynn began her admissions career in 1985 as an admissions counselor at Hesston (Kan.) College and before coming to Goshen College was the director of admissions for Maryville University of Saint Louis. She previously served as executive director of admissions at the University of Charleston (WVa.), director of admissions at Tabor College in Hillsboro, Kan., director of admissions at Friends University in Wichita, Kan., and assistant director of admissions for Hesston (Kan.) College. Professionally, she is a member of the American Association of Collegiate Registrars and Admissions Officers, National Association of College Admission Counseling and a representative to the Missouri ACT council. She earned her undergraduate degree from Kansas State University in 1980, a master’s of education and counseling/school psychology from Wichita State University in 1986 and is a doctoral candidate in student affairs in higher education at Kansas State University.

The vice president for enrollment management oversees Admission and Financial Aid and is co-chair of the Admission and Retention committee.

Frank comes to Goshen after multiple assignments at several faith-based higher education institutions where he has served as professor of history, graduate dean, associate academic dean, director of institutional effectiveness, vice president for academic affairs, and associate vice president for adult and graduate studies. He is a consultant-evaluator for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association and has been active in several professional organizations at the national level. In addition to representing the president as needed, Frank oversees Information Technology Services and the Office of Institutional Research.

William Jones

Will became vice president for institutional advancement in 2006, following three years of directing the Berea Fund at his alma mater, Berea (Ky.) College. Prior to returning to his native Kentucky in 2003 to work at Berea, Will had held the post of national coordinator and managing director of the Washington, D.C.-based Call to Renewal – a faith-based organization focused on overcoming poverty founded by Christian speaker and author Jim Wallis. Will provided oversight to all program areas for Call to Renewal, including planning and executing fundraising strategies and managing an anti-poverty network of more than 24,000 organizational members and 2,000 churches and faith-based organizations in all 50 states. In addition to holding a degree from Berea College, Will has also studied at Lexington Theological Seminary.

The vice president for institutional advancement oversees Development, College Relations (includes alumni, parent and church relations), Public Relations and the music center.

Anita Stalter

Anita became vice president for academic affairs and academic dean in 2001 following 14 years as a professor in the education department and director of teacher education at Goshen College. Before coming to Goshen College she was a teacher in the Harrisonburg, Va., public school system and served as director of the school for youth and adolescents at Oaklawn Hospital in Goshen. As vice president for academic affairs, Anita is responsible for managing and administering the academic programs consistent with the mission of Goshen College and overseeing the Good Library, Mennonite Historical Library, Merry Lea Environmental Learning Center, general education, the Honors Program and the registrar's office.
